On Nov. 6, members of the Rotary Club of Mundelein/Vernon Hills presented third-grade students at Elementary North with their own personal dictionaries. The representatives gave a brief presentation about the important role that dictionaries play. The children were excited to receive such thick books. One student said, “This book is going to make me a genius.”
The Club distributed dictionaries to third grade students at all Hawthorn 73 elementary schools as well as to other schools in the area. The Club’s Dictionary Project is designed to help third grade teachers ensure that all of their students finish this year as good readers, active writers, and creative thinkers.
