March Madness isn’t only about basketball. On Thursday, Ms. Stern’s third-grade class at Elementary North kicked off the first step of their “March Madness Battle of the Books”. The students walked around the classroom evaluating a wide variety of books. They provided each other with feedback on which books were their favorites. The goal was to select the books they felt would most likely help their teams make it to the championship round of their tournament. America’s Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in third through twelfth grades. Students read books and come together usually in groups to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read.
