The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) will replace the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) test as the federally required assessment administered to all third through eighth grade students this spring. Please read this letter to learn more about the IAR. You are also welcome to visit our district website at www.hawthorn73.org/curriculum/assessments for additional information.
Each year, our fifth and eighth grade students also participate in the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA). This assessment, which satisfies federal accountability requirements, is aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and provides us with information about what students know and are able to do with regards to these standards. The ISA presents thirty questions to fifth graders and thirty-five questions to eighth graders; the assessment is untimed. Each school has set its own specific ISA administration date, and this date will be shared with you by your child’s principal. If you have any questions about this annual science assessment, please contact your child’s principal or assistant principal.
