For school closings or other emergencies that happen outside of normal school hours, Hawthorn District 73 will use the SchoolMessenger system to call the student’s home telephone number and send an email to the parent email addresses on file with the district. In addition, parents can opt to receive text messages for these notifications. The information on file for your student can be viewed for accuracy via the PowerSchool Parent Portal on the SchoolMessenger page. If you need to change your email address or student’s phone number, please contact your child’s school office.
For emergencies that happen during the school day, Hawthorn staff will, at the discretion of the superintendent, use the SchoolMessenger system to call/email/text all contact numbers and email addresses on file with the district.
