Family Reading Night

Family Reading Night

Family Reading Night was held at Elementary North on Friday, February 16th.  We had an outstanding turnout (approximately 150 Elementary North students attended plus their families).  Students had a chance to earn stamps on their tic-tac-toe activity sheet in order to receive a free book at the end of the  night!

Students earned stamps by:
  • Reading books aloud with family in the gym
  • Completing literacy stations in the cafeteria
  • Listening to a principal read aloud and stopping by the PTO Scholastic Book Fair in the library
  • Stopping by the Cook Memorial Public Library Bookmobile
  • Experiencing the STEM Darkroom in the Health room  (NIU STEM Outreach program came for this)

Each student who completed a tic-tac-toe sheet left reading night with a free book!  There was even a grand prize raffle for Dr. Seuss board games, a Dr. Seuss hat, and a Dr. Seuss book with a stuffed animal.  Our students, families, and staff members had a wonderful time.
