Elementary North started its first “One School, One Book” reading program last week. This program encourages reading together at home. On Friday, the school held assemblies to announce what book was selected for all students to read. The book is the “Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.” Fourth-grade teacher Shellie McConnell jumped out of a box as the main character in the book. At parent-teacher conferences, parents will be given the book and a family reading guide. Students will have a chance to win SOAR dollars each day by answering trivia questions about the book. A school assembly will be held on Dec. 20 to celebrate the school’s completion of the book.
